Training

Overview

Liferaft Training Courses are held 4-5 times every year at the DSB premises in Eschershausen, Germany. To qualify for the course applicants must:

  • Have a minimum of 1 year´s work experience in liferaft servicing
  • Be fluent in English, both reading and writing
  • Pass an examination at the end of the course.

The beginner’s course is a duration of 2 full weeks, followed by a refresher course every 3 years. This is to ensure participates are up to date on all new procedures and modifications on existing products, and on servicing procedures on any new or specially manufactured products.

Although most training is carried out at the DSB premises, we can arrange training at local services stations where appropriate. Further to the training, the DSB servicing network is regularly audited by DSB approved personnel that periodically visit all service stations in the over 400+ network covering all Survitec brands worldwide. Visits will cover audits on the service stations operations, manuals, tools and spare parts.

Marine Evacuation Systems (MES) training is also available. When an MES is supplied customers are required to carry out a complete system deployment. Crew training will take place at this stage. The crew is instructed in the full use and handling of the system, from deployment to evacuation procedures.
